The ultra-portable iM207 Orbit by Altec Lansing lets you easily share your music with those around you. With a unique design that produces a full-bodied, 360-degree sound, you will hear the music loud and clear. And with a tiny footprint that easily fits in your purse or pocket, you can get the music started for an impromptu party at any time. The Altec Lansing Orbit Speaker: projects sound in all directions; can tilt on its edge for personal listening; provides 24 hours of listening on three AAA batteries; and has built-in cord management.
The unique round design offers a 360-degree sound.
Tipped on its edge, the speaker can be directed for personal listening. Unique, Round Design with 360-Degree Sound With just a quick look at the Orbit, you know you're in for something special. Its round form uses a cone design integrated with a custom Altec Lansing speaker to project full, distortion-free sound in every direction. All your friends will hear the music and wonder where the great sound is coming from. If you would like a more personal listening experience, just put the Orbit on its edge for a more focused and directed sound. At just 3.5 inches in diameter and 1.6 inches tall, the Orbit will go wherever you go. Throw it in your pocket or purse and pull it out wherever you are: on a park bench, on the street corner, waiting for the bus. To turn it on, simply twist the entire speaker; this prevents it from accidentally turning on in your bag or pocket. And don't worry about damaging the Orbit; it's built to handle even the most reckless travelers. A smartly designed integrated cable management lets you wrap the cable around the speaker and keeps the stereo mini-plug out of the way when not in use. Outstanding Battery Life You don't have to worry about battery life with the Orbit; with three AAA batteries, the Orbit will play for up to 24 continuous hours, more than enough to keep the party going all night long. The Altec Lansing Orbit is backed by a one-year warranty. What's in the Box Orbit speaker (with 3.5-inch cable attached), user's manual.
Get a party started no matter where you are.

What Customers Say About Altec Lansing iM207 Orbit-MP3 for iPod and MP3 Players:

But alas, after the first two or three uses, I started hearing a lot of crackling whenever I turned up the audio volume to even moderate levels (e.g., when trying to play a song from my ipod in the car). Simply put, this speaker is not anywhere near worth the $30 (or so) it usually goes for. As many other reviewers have pointed out, the on/off switch mechanism is a massive ergonomics fail -- clearly whoever designed the thing was not considering that segment of the population which is not endowed with huge hands and the brute strength of one who spends his or her days twisting rebar into quaint modernist sculptures of giraffes and butterflies. Now if it were JUST the on-off switch that was problematic, but the sound quality was great, my overall rating could have been at least one star higher, possibly two. Moreover, the thing sucks batteries like there's no tomorrow (and the on-off switch mechanism exacerbates this), and the battery door is very poorly secured. Essentially, for something of this price and this relatively large physical size (it is about the diameter of a coffee mug), I expected better.
The thing is so difficult to turn on/off that my wife and kids always brought it to me like a lid on a new jar of sauce. My three-year old just broke my im207, and I will not buy another. The fact that I can't access the circuit board to replace the 1/4 inch plug is only the last frustration. Too bad, I really appreciated the quality of sound from such a highly portable speaker. Also, it did last over a year withAltec Lansing iM207 Orbit-MP3 for iPod and MP3 Players significant use.
For its compact size it really sounds great. Use for Spa background music during traveling massages. Nice little unit. Can't beat the sound.
I read lots of reviews trying to find an inexpensive way to listen to my ipod at my cabin without electricity. While it's true the on/off switch on it might be a bit tough to turn, it really does work great. It's not the best sound ever, but for the price, it's really excellent.
It is not all bad but next to the Altec Lansing iM-237 it just doesnt sound good at all. It is fine if you are very limited on space but then you may wish to get one that self recharges. I cant really recomend it for music it doesnt sound much better than the speaker in the mp3 player
